  8.        A potential juror can be rejected by an attorney solely because of 
  9. his or her religion, according to a surprise ruling by the U.S. Supreme 
  10. Court. Justices left intact a Minnesota ruling that condoned a potential 
  11. juror's exclusion based on his being a Jehovah's Witness.
  12.        But Justice Clarence Thomas, joined by Justice Antonin Scalia, said 
  13. the court should have sent the Minnesota case back for further study 
  14. in light of last month's decision.
